Hello and welcome to COVID Communiqué 23. We are pleased to bring you your updated diocesan pandemic plan In This Together, Version 2. The focus of all stages of the plan remains unchanged: keeping parishioners, staff and our communities as safe as possible.
Version 2 integrates all the changes and updates we have made since the plan was released on July 7. Because of that, paragraph numbering has changed throughout, although section titles and —for the most part — content remain the same. Version 2 does contain some changes and updates. Among them—you are no longer required to sanitize pews or chairs. What we have learned about transmission since Version 1 was published has clarified that seating is not considered high touch. But keep up the cleaning on door handles, stair rails, light switches and anything else numerous people put their hands on.
Another important change, found at paragraph 81, potentially increases the number of people who can gather in a group (such as a 12-step program and rentals) by permitting meetings of up to one-third of a room’s capacity, provided physical distancing can be maintained.
