Hello and welcome to COVID Communiqué 54. We are in a bit of a holding pattern right now. The two provinces we call home are both heading toward reopening, but taking different approaches. Last week Quebec announced its plan to loosen restrictions in different areas of the province and is moving through them even faster than planned.
Ontario, on the other hand, plans to link reopening to increasing levels of vaccinations in the province. Each level of the three-step plan will stay in place for a minimum of three weeks after it is introduced. You can find all the details here. Among the many differences in the two provinces’ plans are their approaches to Sunday liturgies, weddings, and funerals. For the time being, the Diocese of Ottawa’s approach is simpler: all churches will remain closed, following our Red stage protocols (if you need a refresher). However, the situation is under review and we will of course keep you informed of any changes.
