Dear friends,

The March issue of Perspective is here with news and stories from across the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa and beyond.

Our front-page story takes readers far beyond our diocese indeed, offering views all the way from the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. Archbishop Hosam Naoum and the Very Rev. Richard Sewell, dean of St. George’s College, joined Bishop Shane Parker for a webinar discussion about the impacts of the Israel-Gaza war, particularly on St. George’s College which is struggling as the Anglican centre for pilgrimage while pilgrims have stopped coming.

As you prepare for Lent, you can read about River Through the Desert, an online program of readings, reflections and videos developed by St. George’s College intended to offer “a taste of the beauty, wonder and inspiration of the Holy Land.

Closer to home, this issue also includes inspiring stories of the ways Anglican parishes in the diocese are reaching out to their communities in innovative ways — welcoming music lovers to jazz vesper services and warmly welcoming newcomers to Canada. There is also information about the Future Fund, intended to support and fuel such innovations, and its first application deadline on March 15, 2025.

Read it now.

We hope these stories warm your heart while winter still reigns outside.

Sincerely,

Leigh Anne Williams
Editor, Perspective and Crosstalk

P.S. Let Light Shine: The Canadian campaign for St. George’s College Jerusalem continues its efforts to help the college, which has been drastically impacted by the war in Israel and Gaza. Learn more or donate here.
