We are issuing this special COVID Communiqué because new restrictions have been placed on indoor and outdoor gatherings for the City of Ottawa due to the alarming increase in COVID-19 cases in recent days. This restriction is meant to address unmonitored gatherings where distancing, hand hygiene and mask wearing is limited.
It does not include church services because of the strict protocols that are in place. And so we want to reassure Anglicans in the City of Ottawa that Sunday worship can go ahead using our AMBER protocols.
We want to reiterate how important it is to continue to take extreme caution and be diligent as we reopen our churches, as our ability to do so in Ontario sits on a knife's edge because unsafe behaviours are resulting in increased rates of infection. May our response and our practices as God’s church continue to serve as an example to everyone in our communities.
That’s all for now. Be assured that we will inform you immediately when there are any changes that affect us.
As always, if you’re looking for information or guidance, please get in touch at C19helpdesk@ottawa.anglican.ca.
